Number of people held on remand beyond statutory limit
Dear Ministry of Justice,
I am seeking information under the Freedom of Information Act (2000) regarding data held by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) on people held on remand.
Specifically, I am requesting the following information:
(1) How many people are currently being held in remand beyond the statutory limit of 182 days for Crown Court cases?
(2) How many people are currently being held in remand beyond the 56 day statutory limit for Magistrates' court cases?
Any information would be greatly appreciated and please do not hesitate to get in touch if you require any further clarification of the question.
Thank you for your help.
Yours faithfully,
Gideon Leibowitz
