Dear FOI, England (NHS ENGLAND),

What a complete dog's dinner and lost opportunity this is. Is it any wonder that the NHS spends £32,000 per second and does not even collect information on such an important potential money saver as this scheme?

You say: "Starting in June 2018, NHS Digital, acting on behalf of Public Health England (PHE), will be collecting information about people who are invited to an NHS Health Check". I am delighted that you have hurriedly thrown together an arrangement to monitor this scheme from now on.

Please will you let us know the following:
1. The department and contact details of the office within NHS Digital which is involved.
2. Exactly what information they will collect
3. What will be done to reward GP practices which cooperate and to sanction those that don't
4. What financial issues, if significant, are involved

Many thanks.

Dear FOI, England (NHS ENGLAND),

I accept that "Names of individual members of staff are exempt under section 40(2) of the
Freedom of Information Act".

However, on June 7th, you say;
"Public Health England are responsible for NHS Health Check Data. Starting
in June 2018, NHS Digital, acting on behalf of Public Health England
(PHE), will be collecting information about people who are invited to an
NHS Health Check"

How is it possible that you can say this if you do not know the email address and postal address of the office to which you have just referred?

Please provide these details.

Yours sincerely,

Dear FOI, England (NHS ENGLAND),

Thank you for your unhelpful reply.

I am sure you could have opened up your Filofax and obliged me with the answer but you chose not to. I have been trying to get to the bottom of this matter since July 3rd and have been given the run around ever since. Another couple of weeks won't matter. I shall find out and will publicise the new arrangements so that the wastage of NHS funds will slow up a little. It would have been nice to have received support from you.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Rutherford
