Dear Mr Griffin

Thank you for your query of 18 January 2010 concerning the number of
passengers who board bus route 357 on a Sunday, within the grounds of
Whipps Cross Hospital.

As you are aware, this request is being considered under the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Having investigated your query with the relevant team, I can confirm the
following.  We only hold data for each individual stop during weekdays but
as I’m sure you are aware, route 357 does not serve Whipps Cross hospital
during the week.

We do however hold usage data for the whole route on a Sunday but not data
for each individual stop as requested.

If you could perhaps clarify which of the above options you would prefer
to receive information on, please let me know and I will gladly send this
information to you.

I am sorry I am unable to give you the exact information you require on
this occasion however I look forward to assisting you with your request in
the near future.

Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Dear Transport for London,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Transport for London's handling of my FOI request 'Number of passengers boarding route 357 on Sundays'.

The data should be collected, to discover whether the service needs to serve the hospital, and whether the use of single-deck buses on Sunday is causing overcrowding on the majority of the route.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/nu...

Yours faithfully,

Dear Mr Griffin

The internal review of your Freedom of Information request has been
completed. The review was undertaken by an internal review panel (‘the
Panel’).

The Panel considered the correspondence associated with your request and
agreed that the information you requested is not held by TfL. The Panel
noted that the business area responsible for such surveys explained that
TfL does survey routes on weekdays on a stop-by-stop basis on a rolling
programme, but due to cost implications it is not possible to conduct
regular stop-by-stop surveys on other days of the week.

As TfL is not required to create information in order to respond to a
Freedom of Information request; no further action will be taken in
relation to your request. Any further queries regarding this route should
be sent to Buses Customer Services.

I hope this information is of assistance. If you are dissatisfied with the
outcome of this internal review, you can refer the matter to the
independent authority responsible for enforcing the Freedom of Information
Act at the following address.
