Number of households presenting as homeless that claim Universal Credit
Dear FOI Team,
I write to request information on the number of households claiming Universal Credit and/or housing benefit who have presented to you as homeless while between January 2019 and April 2022.
As part of this request, I would like this information to be broken down into the following:
(i) The total number of households claiming Universal Credit presenting as homeless since January 2019, broken down into households living in leasehold property and council-owned property (otherwise known as council tenants) and years;
(i) The total number of households claiming housing benefit – part of the legacy welfare system – presenting as homeless since January 2019, broken down into households living in leasehold property and council-owned property (otherwise known as council tenants) and years.
Please present the information in Excel format.
Yours faithfully,
Oliver Murphy
Dear Mr. Murphy,
Please would you be able to clarify as where you mention “households
living in leasehold property and council-owned property” – please can I
ask you to confirm if you mean the household is presenting as homeless
after leaving leasehold/council-owned property or the household being
placed into leasehold/council-owned property?
Many Thanks

Dear Kaleb Raby,
When I say 'households in leasehold households, I am referring to 'households living in privately rented properties, owner occupiers and properties leased to council'. I am saying households that present as homeless after leaving leasehold/council-owned property
Yours sincerely,
Oliver Murphy
