Number of graduates on 5 year courses

Faisel Alam made this Freedom of Information request to University of Liverpool This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear University of Liverpool,

Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act, I kindly request some data from you regarding the numbers of graduates on the standard 5 year courses which are also available to school leavers.

For clarification, by this I mean students who have previously completed an Honours degree or higher prior to entry onto the following courses where appropriate:

A100 Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery
A200 Bachelor of Dental Surgery

My request is in three parts:

1) How many students do you currently have enrolled in each year group?
2) How many of these students are graduates (as defined above)?
3) What are the exact numbers of graduate students who were wrongly offered Tuition Fee Loans by the Student Loan Company and then had to pay fees up front to the University over the past 3 years?

I look forward to hearing from you promptly and would appreciate an acknowledgement of receipt of this request.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Faisel Alam

Dear Ms Jackson,

I apologise for this but I forget to add two additional questions to my enquiry:

Q4) How many graduates (as previously defined) applied (including 2013 entry) broken down into each UCAS cycle for the past 5 years? This should be done in conjunction with Q1 and Q2 so they all line up with each other

Q5) How many of the above were offered interviews broken down into the same manner?

Yours sincerely,

Mr Faisel Alam

Dear Mr. Alam,

Thank you for your email of 24^th April 2013 requesting information
concerning the numbers of graduates on the standard 5 year courses.   I am
pleased to enclose the information you requested as set out below:-

Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act, I kindly request some
data from you regarding the numbers of graduates on the  standard 5 year
courses which are also available to school leavers.

For clarification, by this I mean students who have previously completed
an Honours degree or higher prior to entry onto the  following courses
where appropriate:

A100 Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery

A200 Bachelor of Dental Surgery

My request is in five parts:

1) How many students do you currently have enrolled in each year group?

Medicine

Year Attending
1 277
2 274
3 338
4 291
5 262

Dentistry

First Year - 60

Second Year – 62

Third Year – 64

Fourth Year – 67

Fifth Year – 62

2) How many of these students are graduates (as defined above)?

Medicine

It is not possible to give exact numbers of how many graduates are in each
year but I can inform you that the University of Liverpool admitted the
following numbers of graduates into each year:

2008 entry (current 5^th year) 1

2009 entry (current 4^th year) 1

2010 entry (current 3^rd year) 1

2011 entry (current 2^nd year) 5

2012 entry (current 3^rd year) 2

Dentistry

First Year - 4 graduates

Second Year – 8 graduates

Third Year – 9 graduates

Fourth Year – 1 graduate

Fifth Year – 2 graduates

3) What are the exact numbers of graduate students who were wrongly
offered Tuition Fee Loans by the Student Loan Company and then had to pay
fees up front to the University over the past 3 years?

The University of Liverpool had no A100 or A200 graduate entry students
who were incorrectly awarded a tuition fee loan for this to later be
re-claimed and for which the student was then required to pay the
University directly.

The University of Liverpool did have 4 NON-graduate entry students for
A100 and nil for A200.

Q4) How many graduates (as previously defined) applied (including 2013
entry) broken down into each UCAS cycle for the past 5 years?

This should be done in conjunction with Q1 and Q2 so they all line up with
each other
