Dear Ugne Vaskeviciute,

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 (FOIA) - INFORMATION REQUEST

The City of London (CoL) acknowledges receipt of your request for
information of 23 December 2014, as attached:
Public authorities are required to respond to requests within the
statutory timescale of 20 working days beginning from the first working
day after they receive a request. The Act does not always require public
authorities to disclose the information which they hold.

The FOIA applies to the CoL as a local authority, police authority and
port health authority. The CoL is the local and police authority for the
“Square Mile”, ie the historic City of London, and not for London as a
whole. Please see the following link to a map on the CoL's website, which
shows the area covered:

The CoL does have some functions, including Port Health Authority
functions, which extend beyond the City boundary. For further information
please see: [2]www.cityoflondon.gov.uk.

Dear Ugne Vaskeviciute,

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 (FOIA) - INFORMATION REQUEST

Further to your request for information of 23 December 2014, I am writing
to ask you to clarify your request as follows.

You have asked for the number of foreign breweries and pubs in the City of
London’s local authority area.
Please would you clarify your definitions of a ‘foreign brewery’ and a
‘foreign pub’.

Please reply to [1][email address].

Public authorities are required to respond to requests within the
statutory timescale of 20 working days. The 20 working days began on 24
December 2014 and will recommence from the first working day after we
receive your clarification. The FOIA does not always require public
authorities to disclose the information which they hold.

Please note that the CoL is the Local Authority for the "square mile"
only, i.e. the historic City of London, and not London as a whole, which
is covered by over 30 boroughs and the Westminster City Council. Please
see the following link to a map on the CoL's website, which shows the area
covered: [2]www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corporation/maps/boundary_map.htm.
Yours sincerely,
