Dear Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Number of FOIs received'.

Failure to collate appropriate data serves to suggest that Bolton Council are inefficient and are in no position to make appropriate strategic decisions. I request a full and extensive examination of data collection processes.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/n...

Yours faithfully,

Kevin Walsh

I have often noticed that Bolton Council seem to manage to respond in or on the very last days of a due date. Even to the simplest of requests. I am pretty sure they'd take 28 days to respond with the name of the chief exec if asked.

There is an obligation under FOI legislation for them to respond quickly as possible and not simply delay until the deadline.

I find it difficult to believe that the spreadsheet to which the refer in the review does not have a column for date request received and date response sent out. Thus it would be a simple excel equation to work out response times no manual counting required.

I therefore suggest you ask for a copy of this (personal info should be redacted). Dont limit your request to the two date columns, it would be interesting to know if they have a column for date info received to FOI office as well as date response sent.
