Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)

Dear A. Cable

Freedom of Information Request Reference No: 01/FOI/22/026130

I write in response to your request for information that was received by
the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) on 16/08/2022.

“Freedom of Information request - Number of FOI requests which are not
responded to within 20 days, and associated internal reviews.

Please provide, tablated monthly, for the last 5 years:

A) The number of FOI requests for which you failed to provide the
information requested within 20 working days, excluding requests that were
refused, waiting for clarification, or otherwise for which you were not
obliged to provide the information.

B) The number of FOI requests for which you failed to provide the
information requested within 40 working days, excluding requests that were
refused, waiting for clarification, or otherwise for which you were not
obliged to provide the information.

C) All internal reviews associated with the requests in part A or B. “.

This is to inform you that the MPS are unable to proceed with your request
as we require further information from you.

The MPS seek clarity as follows in response to your questions below :

Please provide, tablated monthly, for the last 5 years:

A) The number of FOI requests for which you failed to provide the
information requested within 20 working days, excluding requests that were
refused, waiting for clarification, or otherwise for which you were not
obliged to

     provide the information.

This is not clear to the MPS as the first part of the request is
conditional on the 2nd part i.e. excluding requests that were refused.

Also... does your request for information include a response in
which the MPS have said Neither Confirm Nor Denied (NCND) after the 20
working days ?

The MPS seeks more clarity in this area.

B) The number of FOI requests for which you failed to provide the
information requested within 40 working days, excluding requests that were
refused, waiting for clarification, or otherwise for which you were not
obliged to

     provide the information.

Same as above, it’s not clear to the MPS which results we are
including in the data requested.

The MPS seeks more clarity in this area.

C) All internal reviews associated with the requests in part A or B.

Does this mean they want a copy of the response or outcome or just a
number of procedural reviews ?

If the requested additional information has not been received by Friday
23^rd September 2022 (20 working days from today’s date), I will assume
you no longer wish to proceed with this request and will treat it as
withdrawn.

Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please
contact me via email at [1][The Met request email], quoting the reference number
above.

Yours sincerely,

I Burgess

Information Manager

Dear Metropolitan Police Service (MPS),

Thanks for your detailed and helpful requests for clarification.

In response to part A, let me rephrase, thanks for catching it:

The number of FOI requests for which you provided(or if the request is still outstanding, are planning on providing a complete or partial response for), which waited more than working 20 days, not counting days waiting for clarification.

Part B can similarly be rephrased:

The number of FOI requests for which you provided(or if the request is still outstanding, are planning on providing a complete or partial response for), which waited more than 40 days, not counting days waiting for clarification.

As for part C, I would like to request:
- The response(by the MPS) to the request
- The corresponding request for internal review(s) by the requested
- The corresponding responses to the request for internal review(s) by the MPS.

In light of the rephrasings of A and B, it would make sense to limit the search to requests filed more than 40 days before the initial request, allowing time for them to wait 40 days and giving a representitive dataset- please do so.

I hope that can help- please do not hesitate to contact me for further clarification.

With my apologies for my delayed response.

Yours faithfully,

Ada Cable
