Dear United Utilities Water PLC,

Can you please identify the number of events when there has been no water , low pressure or water pressure below the statutory limits in the post code area of Accrington, BB5 between the dates of 01/12/17 to 23/01/19?

I am assuming at each event water was lost to the environment from your water main.

I write further to your request for information submitted via
Whatdotheyknow on 23^rd January 2019.

 

We have attempted to look for the information you have requested. However,
I am given to understand that to provide you with the information between
1^st December 2017 and 23^rd January 2019  would take us a considerable
amount of time. As such that it may prove manifestly unreasonable for us
to provide you with the information for the whole BB5 area.

 

However if you are able to narrow the scope of the request, for instance
because you are particularly interested in the more recent bursts (i.e. a
much narrower time frame), or a smaller area (i.e. a more defined
postcode), then that would greatly assist in our ability to provide you
with the information. I would be grateful if you could come back to me on
this point.

 

In the meantime, you may find it helpful to know that we are planning to
replace a subtantial section of this water main, and you may already, or
will be receiving a letter to customers local to that main, informing you
of this.

 

I look forward to hearing from you further on this, so that we can
progress your request.

I did not appreciate the amount of work involved in my original request. I can be specific to a post code. Therefore my request is now updated to, identify the number of events when there has been no water , low pressure or water pressure below the statutory limits in the post code area of Accrington, BB5 2JX between the dates of 01/12/17 to 23/01/19?

I refer to previous e-mail exchanges, and thank you for the clarification
to your request outlined in your 11th March 2019 response.
 
Based on your helpful clarification, I can advise that there have been 8
recorded no water or poor pressure events to the post code area of
Accrington, BB5 2JX between the dates of 01/12/17 to 23/01/19?
 
I hope that this now meets with your request. However, should you consider
that we have not adequately complied with our obligations under EIR, you
have the right to ask us to carry out an internal review, by writing to
David Hannon Head of Legal, United Utilities, Legal Department, Grasmere
House First Floor, Lingley Mere Business Park, Lingley Green Avenue, Great
Sankey, Warrington, WA5 3LP. Alternatively, you may find it easier to
e-mail us directly on [1][United Utilities request email] and your review request
will be forwarded on to Mr Hannon.
 
Your request for review should explain why you wish a review to be carried
out, and should be made within 40 working days of receipt of this letter,
and we will reply within 40 working days of receipt. If you are not
satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to make a
formal complaint to the Information Commissioner.
