Freedom Of Information, De Montfort University

Dear Tereza Tomanova

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000-INFORMATION REQUEST

During the unprecedented challenges of the coronavirus (COVID-19)
pandemic, while De Montfort University is making every effort to comply
with the timescales of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the General
Data Protection Regulation, and the Data Protection Act 2018, it has been
necessary to temporarily divert resources to support the welfare and
safety of staff and students, and away from the University’s compliance
and information rights work, and this has impacted our response times.

We apologise for any impact this may have, but this is a challenge many
organisations will face at the moment and one the [1]Information
Commissioner’s Office have recognised.

Your request for information has been considered under the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our response is as follows: Please note
that we are unable to provide the current year data for 2019/20 as the
year is not yet complete.

a) the number of EU students enrolled at your University for each academic
year 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.

The numbers above are taken from our HESA standard registration population
and is derived from the declared domicile of the student.

b) the number of EU students having their tuition fees paid by Student
Loans Company each academic year 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018,
2018/2019 and 2019/2020.

2016/17 485

Notes

The above data source is SLC:

o The data shows students eligible on basis of EU status alone (Tuition
Fee Loan - TFL only). It does not include any EU students who have
qualified for full SFE funding (maintenance loan/grants and TFL) on
the basis of residency or as Migrant Workers/Child of Migrant Workers
o The data shows only those students who have had at least one
attendance confirmation in each given academic year to release a full
or part TFL
o The data includes students registered at Partner Colleges and/or in
the DMU portion of their study

If you have any queries please get in touch with me to discuss them.  You
might like to know that the University’s website [2]www.dmu.ac.uk contains
a section on the Freedom of Information Act that lists other publications
readily available from the University under its Publication Scheme.

Yours sincerely,

Michael
