Dear Swale Borough Council,

Can you tell me how many employees were employed by the Council on 1st April, 2020?

Are any of the number "shared" with other Boroughs?

Yours faithfully,

Fergus Wilson

Dear FOI (SBC),

Thank you for your letter today. Of the 302 employees you say 30 are shared with other Boroughs. Can I ask you to clarify which other Boroughs and also whether the other Boroughs contribute to the salaries of the shared employees and if so how are the salaries apportioned?

Yours sincerely,

Fergus Wilson

Dear FOI (SBC),

I accept you have answered to the best of your ability.

If the number of shared employees is a round number I suggest there has been double accounting. However, if a decimal point number it rather suggests apportionment.

I have nothing against sharing staff and am merely asking for some clarity.

Yours sincerely,

Fergus Wilson

Dear Mr Wilson

Thank you for your email of 28 May 2020. Please advise what was it you want clarity on. If you are questioning whether the response is correct, do you want us to double check the figures?

Dear FOI (SBC),

Councils are meant to be run in a business like manner. I find it remarkable that Councils do not carry the information in the format expected.

If I ask Kent Police how many officers it employs I expect a quick response of 3,574 immediately. Such information should be available at your fingertips.

Yours sincerely,

Fergus Wilson

Dear Mr Wilson,

Thank you for your email below, I can confirm that we provided you with
the number of employees previously (I have attached for ease) however my
colleagues email below relates to your further comments: ‘If the number of
shared employees is a round number I suggest there has been double
accounting. However, if a decimal point number it rather suggests
apportionment. I have nothing against sharing staff and am merely asking
for some clarity.’

We were trying to ascertain if the clarity you was asking for was a
recount of the second question and a check into the numbers we previously
provided in our response or if you was merely making a statement.
Therefore if you can please advise regarding your comments we will be
happy to proceed.

Kind regards
