I refer to your request for information received on 08/10/2013.  Please
see the information below in response to your request: -

1. provide me with number of people who are disabled with your borough?

For the period 1^st April 2012 to 31^st March 2013, 459 physically
disabled people in the 18-64 age group, known to Adult Social Services and
who are in receipt of services.

For the period 1^st April 2012 to 31^st March 2013, 2256 physically frail

physically frail and disabled into one category for this age group), known
to Adult Social Services and who are in receipt of services.

2. provide the kind of local services the council provides for disabled
people?

Adult Social Services commissions/provides the normal range of care and

arrange their own services where they are eligible for financial support.

Services include:-

Ø  home care;

Ø  community equipment;

Ø  telecare;

Ø  day support;

Ø  travel support;

Ø  frozen meal delivery;

Ø  support to prepare people for employment;

Ø  respite care;

Ø  support within supported accommodation

Ø  residential care.

Ø  the council commissions support with transport and community transport

Ø  through housing there is access to adapted accommodation and the
Disabled Facilities Grant to undertake adaptations.

Ø  Sports development commissions a range of sports and activities
suitable for people with disabilities.

The Council also provides funding to the voluntary sector for a range of
services that can be used by anyone with disabilities who needs them,
including DASCAS a welfare advice service and the Pocklington Resource
Centre which supports people who are blind or who have visual impairments.

Within the Environment and Community Services Department we offer the
following locally based disabled person- focussed services:-

Disability Arts Contracts:

We currently have 2 contracts:-

Contract 1 – the creation and presentation of a performance project
engaging with children with profound and multiple disabilities – currently
delivered by Oily Cart.

Contract 2 – the delivery of participatory arts activities for adults with
learning and/or physical disabilities – currently delivered by Action
Space.

It should be noted that, although the wider spectrum of arts programming
is often suitable for disability groups, we offer occasional art-focussed
projects that are funded through the small grants system for targeted
disability groups.
