Further to your request received on 22/07/2024, I confirm that the Council
has now considered your request under the Freedom of Information Act
2000. Specifically, you have requested the following information:

 

"Dear Croydon Borough Council,

I am requesting the following information under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000. If any information is unavailable, exempt, or beyond time/cost
limits, please disregard these and provide the rest.

The total number of council-owned/operated CCTV cameras as of 2024 within
your local authority area (if information for 2024 is not yet available,
please provide the most up-to-date numbers).

I do not need the location of these CCTV cameras, just a total number of
CCTV cameras currently in operation within your local authority area.

Please let me know if you have any questions or require additional
clarification."
 
Presently the CCTV control room has eighty nine operational CCTV cameras
around the borough. There are an additional ten cameras that have long
term technical faults and are beyond economic repair. The Council is
presently going through a procurement process where all the CCTV cameras
around the borough will be replaced in the future.

For the ANPR Traffic area of the Council, we operate 123 cameras.

The Council publishes Access to Information requests and responses on its
