number of barrings by the ISA

Mr Underwood made this Freedom of Information request to Independent Safeguarding Authority

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Independent Safeguarding Authority,

Could you tell me the answers to the following questions:

1) How many people have been barred by the independent safeguarding authority since it 'went live'?

2) How many of these people were 'automatically barred' following 'a relevant conviction or caution' and how many were discretionary barrings?

3) How many cases have been passed, so far, to the ISA to be considered for discretionary barring?

4) How many cases, which have reached the stage of 'minded to bar' have not resulted in a barring?

5) How many cases that have reached the stage of 'minded to bar' have resulted in a discretionary barring? (ie: excluding automatic barrings from these figures)?

6) How many cases are currently 'minded to bar' with the decision not yet made?

7) How many of these are cases where the case is not related to a conviction or caution that would normally lead to an 'automatic barring' (ie: How many people are currently 'minded to bar' and where the decision of whether to bar or not will be discretionary)?

7) How many of those barred so far have appealed to the upper tribunal?

8) How many of those appeals have been successful? unsuccessful? are still pending?

Yours faithfully,

Mr Underwood
Vice-President Cambridge NASUWT
