Dear West Mercia Police,

Please supply the information relating to how many members of West Mercia Police (specifically Police Officers) have been victims of assault from 2000 to Present.

Yours faithfully,

Liam Stallard

Information Compliance West Mercia, West Mercia Police

Dear Mr Stallard

Please be advised that the information that you have requested is not available in a readily retrievable format.
Offence code 104 is Assault Without Injury of Police Officers, however there are no offence codes specific to assault with injury of Police Officers or Police staff and these would be recorded under Sec 38. Information regarding Sec 38 offences that have been committed against a Police Officer or member of Police staff is not held centrally or in an electronically searchable format and it would require a manual review of all Sec 38 offences for the time periods stated to establish if any of the offences had been committed against an employee. Therefore the cost of providing you with the information would be above the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information exceeds the 'appropriate level' as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.

You may wish to refine and resubmit your request to receive part of the information. For example we can provide information on the number of offences recorded under code 104 - Assault Without Injury of Police Officers.

Please contact us again should you wish to proceed with an amended request.

Please also be advised that Section 8(1)(b) of FOI legislation indicates that the real name of an applicant should be used when requesting information and not any other name, for example, a pseudonym. Title and/or first name with surname satisfies the requirement for provision of a real name and you have provided a first and second name, but in order to validate this and proceed with a request we would require proof of this name please.
Should you wish to proceed with an amended request please provide formal proof of your name to the Information Compliance Unit at the address shown below. This is for validation purposes only, in order that we can ascertain that your request is valid under Section 8(1)(b) of FOIA.

Yours sincerely
