Dear Mr Mansfield

I refer to your FOI request concerning our Paramedic Emergency Service and
detail below our answers to the questions that you asked.  We have
provided as much detail as possible, however some historical data cannot
be retrieved and I should make you aware that the North West Ambulance
Service was only established in July 2006.  Prior to this date ambulance
services in the north west were provided by 4 separate trusts and we do
not have access to any records held by these organisations.

I do hope that this response is of assistance to you and should you
require anything further please contact me direct and I will endeavour to
assist you.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Mansfield

I refer to my partial response of yesterday and am now pleased to forward
you the outstanding information that you requested.

 1) The number of ambulance crew employed, by role (e.g. Paramedic,

Technician, etc), per year, since 2005. This should include any

other roles/positions e.g. if you employ nurses, doctors, etc.

Please find below details of all operational staff directly employed in
providing a frontline face to face response in either a Rapid Response Car
(solo responder),an Emergency Ambulance or an Urgent Care Ambulance. Our
urgent care vehicles are a secondary response unit and transport patients
after a clinical triage has been completed.  Staff on urgent care
ambulances are on a lower grade than those who operate on our emergency
ambulances.

As a Trust we have revised the scope of practice of those posts which
support  paramedics on an emergency vehicle, so we have included in the
category Technician, both those staff who hold the recognised IHCD
Technician qualification and those staff who have been trained internally
to our own syllabus.
