Number of admission appeals and complaints from 2010 to 2019 and the number upheld at Stage 1 of appeal process.

The request was successful.

Dear St Anne's College, Oxford,

Please provide the following information:
1. For each year from 2010 to 2019, how many appeals and complaints (Stage 1 of appeal process) relating to undergraduate admission did the college receive?
2. For each of these years, how many of these appeals and complaints were upheld at Stage 1 and resulted in an applicant receiving an offer? (ie a student appealed a rejection for an undergraduate course and subsequently received an offer from the college without the need to progress to Stage 2 of the appeal process)

Please list appeals and complaints separately.

Thank you for your assistance.
Dr. Mike Whittome

Dear St Anne's College, Oxford,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of St Anne's College, Oxford's handling of my FOI request 'Number of admission appeals and complaints from 2010 to 2019 and the number upheld at Stage 1 of appeal process.'.

The data that has been requested is anonymised. Therefore, there is no justification to be vague about the number of appeals upheld. Please kindly clarify whether <3 means 0, 1 or 2 appeals upheld. This information is required for analysis of appeal statistics across all colleges at both Stage 1 and 2.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/n...

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Mike Whittome

Helen King, St Anne's College, Oxford

Dear Dr. Whittome,

Further to your email below, I have reviewed the college's response to your earlier FOI request.

In this particular case I find that confidentiality can still be protected even if the original information requested is disclosed.

Therefore the information requested for the years specified is as follows:

2010 - 2014 No data available
2015 (for entry in 2016) 1 complaint. 1 offer.
2016 (for entry in 2017) 0 complaints.
2017 (for entry in 2018) 1 complaint. No offer.
2018 (for entry in 2019) 1 complaint. 3 appeals. No offers.
2019 (for entry in 2020) Cycle not yet complete.

Please note that this does not set a precedent for responses by the college to future Freedom of Information requests, as each request will continue to be assessed individually with respect to confidentiality.

I hope this is satisfactory.
