NRPF Change of Conditions applicants 2017-2018

The request was successful.

Dear Home Office,

The following information is requested from the Home Office under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I am seeking data on the gender and circumstances of those with Leave to Remain in the UK on a Family / Private Life visa on a 10 year route to settlement who submitted a Change of Conditions application to have the ‘No Recourse to Public Funds’ condition lifted from their visa on the basis of destitution or other exceptional circumstances between 30th September 2017 and 30th September 2018.

I believe the Home Office will be able to provide this data as they have already demonstrated in previous FOI request 51628 that they can run a report to identify the number of Change of Conditions applications made by people on the Family/Private Life 10 yr route to settlement visa in a defined time period, and the number of these applications that were granted.

For your reference, the previous FOI demonstrated that this was achieved through the following database query structure:

“(Case Type is 'Destitution Notification Consideration (Fam/Private Life)' and Application Raised Date is between [date] and [date]) OR (Case Event Type is 'Destitution Change of Conditions - Claimed' and Case Event Date is between [date] and [date])

AND where for the same Person ID
Case Type is 'Family/Private Life 10yr -LTR(E)' and
Condition Code is '1' (No Recourse to Public Funds) and
Case Outcome is 'Granted', as defined on the PRAU Matrix for the Case Outcome and
Case Outcome Date is on or before [date] and
Leave Expiry Date is on or after [date] and is on or after the Application Raised Date of the 'Destitution Notification Consideration (Fam/Private Life)' application.”

Given that the Home Office collects demographic data on visa applicants, and can access data on whether they have made a Change of Conditions application, please provide the following data relating to Change of Condition applicants between 30th September 2017 and 30th September 2018:

1) Of the applicants who submitted a Change of Conditions application to have the condition 'No Recourse to Public Funds' lifted (who have Leave to Remain on the basis of Family / Private Life on the 10 year route to settlement) between 30th September 2017 to 30th September 2018, how many were women / identified their gender as ‘female’?

2) Of the applicants who submitted a Change of Conditions application to have the condition 'No Recourse to Public Funds' lifted (who have Leave to Remain on the basis of Family / Private Life on the 10 year route to settlement between 30th September 2017 to 30th September 2018), how many were women / identified their gender as ‘female’ AND had dependents under the age of 18?

3) Of the applicants whose Change of Conditions application (submitted between 30th September 2017 to 30th September 2018) was successful (who have Leave to Remain on the basis of Family / Private Life on the 10 year route to settlement), how many were women / identified their gender as ‘female’?

3) Of the applicants whose Change of Conditions application (submitted between 30th September 2017 to 30th September 2018) was successful (who have Leave to Remain on the basis of Family / Private Life on the 10 year route to settlement), how many were women / identified their gender as ‘female’ AND had dependents under the age of 18?

Yours faithfully,

Anna Mulcahy
