November 2020 Grade Thresholds

The request was successful.

Muhammad Zulfiqar Ali

Dear University of Cambridge,

The results statistics of June 2020 predicted grades showed that there was a lot of grade inflation contrary to what is usually observed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since quite a few students are sitting for the November 2020 exams, many of whom were not allowed the option of June 2020 predicted grades, will you relax your grade boundaries for the presently ongoing November series according to the grades awarded in June 2020? If you do so, it would ensure fairness with those who chose to sit for the exams. Thanks in advance.

Yours faithfully,

Muhammad Zulfiqar Ali

Dear Muhammad

Thank you for your email. Standard setting for the autumn examination
session will indeed take into account the outcomes from the summer 2020
session, amongst other things.

Ofqual, the Regulator for all awarding bodies for regulated
qualifications, have produced a helpful document in terms of how standard
setting will be approached:

I hope this sufficiently addresses your query.

Yours sincerely

Katharine
