Nottingham medical school grades

The request was partially successful.

Dear University of Nottingham,

I am writing to request how many candidates for 2019 entry:

1. Missed their offer by one grade (AAB) and were accepted onto the course.
2. Were students rejected with AAB?
3. Of those students who missed their grades and were accepted onto the course, how many held Nottingham as their firm choice?

Yours faithfully,
A.Bi

Dear Br-Freedom-Of-Information,

1.)Out of those 37 people would you be able to tell me how many people got AAB, how many got A*AC and how many got A*BB?

2.)Also was their a preference for people based on their set of grades( if they were equivalent) i.e. were students with AAB more likely to get rejected then students with A*AC?

Yours sincerely,
A.bi

Dear A Bi

I apologise that you have not yet had a response to your further queries.

Unfortunately I am still waiting for a response from our Admissions Department who are looking at ways of presenting the data without identifying the 37 applicants. We are hoping to be able to respond to question 1 by the end of the week.

However, with regard to question 2, we can confirm there is no preference for a particular grade profile, ie A*AC or AAB.

I am sorry for any inconvenience caused by this delay.

Yours sincerely,
Karen Page

Dear A Bi

I apologise once again for the delay in our further response.

I can confirm the following data:

1.)Out of those 37 people would you be able to tell me how many people got AAB, how many got A*AC and how many got A*BB?:

AAB plus another qualification such as a fourth A Level or EPQ - 21
AAB or A*BB - 16

Unfortunately we are unable to provide a split for AAB or A*BB because of a very low number. We believe this information is exempt under section 40(2) as disclosure would breach data protection regulations because individuals have a reasonable expectation that their information will not be disclosed.

2.)Also was their a preference for people based on their set of grades( if they were equivalent) i.e. were students with AAB more likely to get rejected then students with A*AC?

There is no preference for any grade profile over any others as long as the student had studied the relevant subjects.

I hope this further information is helpful.

Yours sincerely,
Karen Page
