FoI, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service

Dear Sir,

Further to your recent request made under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act regarding North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (NWFRS)
usage of the PSBA Network Services Framework, the response from NWFRS is
as follows:

1) How much has North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spent per year on PSBA
connections since 2012?

Answer = The cost of the PSBA changes from year to year.  However, based
on recent invoices, the NWFRS spends approximately £184,000 per year on
PSBA connectivity.

2) How much does North Wales Fire and Rescue Service forecast to spend on
PSBA connections per year up to 2020?

Answer = Unable to provide an answer.  NWFRS is currently reviewing the
connection technologies it uses and the costs at this point are yet to be
agreed.

3) How many service sites currently have a PSBA connection? For each site
please also advise speed and type of connection (DSL/Leased Line)

Answer = There are 51 sites that have PSBA connections.  Sites have speeds
ranging from 10Mb/s to 1Gb/s and using different connection technologies.
NWFRS highly values it’s WAN connectivity and believes that public safety
could be placed at risk if details about how those connections are formed
are made available in the public domain.

4) Does the service have any other connections (internet or private)
outside of PSBA with other carriers?

Answer = Yes

5) Does the service procure any other services through PSBA? if so please
detail what these are with costs.

Answer = One additional service is consumed from the PSBA but this service
is in a beta testing stage so is provided at no cost.
