Wendi Creelman, North Norfolk District Council

Good afternoon

Thank you for Thank you e-mail of 09 August in which you ask for
information relating to our waiting list and Households interested in
Affordable Home ownership. I am able to disclose the following
information, set out below (shown in bold)

1.         How many applicants are currently on the Council's housing
waiting list / housing register?

We maintain three registers, Housing Register – for applicants that have a
level of housing need, Housing Options Register – includes applicants in
lower levels of housing need who can be considered for any social and
affordable rent properties, and a transfer which includes all tenants in
social or affordable rented properties in the North Norfolk District who
want to transfer.

As at the 24 August we have 2681 live applications on the council’s
waiting lists.

• Housing Register:  503
• Housing Options: 1855
• Transfer Register:  323

2.         What is the current average waiting time for an applicant on
the housing waiting list/housing register?

Due to the extreme shortage of affordable properties within North Norfolk
most applicants on the Housing Options and Transfer waiting list will wait
a lot longer as the demand for accommodation continues to outweigh supply.

The table below show the average waiting time (in weeks/ months) for
housing, broken down by the band of the applicant. It is measured by
recording how long people have waited when they are housed, during
2021/22.

4.         Of the current applicants for affordable home ownership
properties:

The eligibility criteria for affordable home ownership is less restrictive
than what is prescribed in our allocations policy relating to the

demand.

The figures below are the calculated bedroom need, based on the Household
size.

c. How many would qualify for a 3-bedroom property? 3

d. How many would qualify for a 4+-bedroom property? 2

renters (if known)?

9. Out of all current applicants, how many have a requirement or have
expressed a preference to live within the following:

Due to the extreme shortage of affordable properties, we encourage
applicants to widen their areas of choice.  Therefore the numbers below
are not a true reflection of the level of demand for particular areas.

a. the town of Holt? 1152 applicants have Holt as one of the areas wanted

b. the civil parish of Fakenham? 1130 applicants have Fakenham as one of
the areas wanted.
