Norbins Rd Car Park
Dear Mendip District Council,
I am a local resident, affected by the development of Norbins Rd car park and the admin of he facebook community page https://www.facebook.com/norbinsroad
In 2018 MDC handed over possession of Norbins Rd car park in Glastonbury to Aster Group.
Please provide a copy of all the meetings where this was discussed and agreed?
Please also provide a copy of any and all correspondence regarding this transfer between MDC and Glastonbury Town Council?
Please provide a copy of all local consultations about the car park during the last 5 years.
This area has 2 known underground toxic sites in the Morlands site and Cranhill in Street. A survey in my own house showed high levels of carcinogenic Argon gas in the area. Has there been a survey of potentially toxic chemicals or hazards been completed on the site, if so, please share a copy of the findings and any recommendations.
If the car park is shown to have higher than safe levels of toxins, what actions will the council take to mitigate the risk to local residents?
It is known that an anonymous benefactor has offered a significantly large site in Street for the purpose of social housing. The benefactor has offered this site free of charge for the benefit of the communities of Street and Glastonbury. Will MDC take up this generous offer and re-site the planned 6 houses for Norbins Rd car park to this new site?
One of the reasons given for relinquishing this much needed car park was because it was under-utilised, yet locals know the car park is well used and vital for dropping off and collecting children from school. What surveys have been completed of parents and staff using the school?
Signage to this car park has been notoriously poor, contributing to it's under-utilisation. Please provide copies of all the council meetings where addressing the under-utilisation has been discussed and plans agreed to promote better use of the car park, BEFORE it was handed over to Aster?
How is MDC planning to work cooperatively with Glastonbury Town Council on the town plan, which includes spending nearly £1m on improving town centre car parking, when it is already well on it's way to undermining the town's own plans to improve local parking?
Yours faithfully,
Maggie Dear
