Non Traditional Housing

South Ribble Borough Council did not have the information requested.

Dear South Ribble Borough Council,

I’m currently in the process of compiling local authority information of residential addresses where non-traditional methods have been used.

Several mass building projects for local authority houses and flats were constructed using pre-fabricated or in-situ techniques such as concrete or steel and often had trade names such as Reema, Wates, Wimpey, Laing, BISF etc. These are both pre and post war. Some of these types were subject to further investigation under the Housing Act 1985.

I would be grateful if you could forward any information you hold on information relating to such dwellings in your local authority. Even if the information is limited it would be of great use. Some local authorities have provided lists showing the road, number and type to assist with identification.

Any information would be gratefully received.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Mr Benton

Having made enquiries with relevant departments at this Council, I confirm
that we don't have any records of residential addresses where
non-traditional methods have been used.

This authority's housing stock transferred some years ago to [1]Progress
Housing Group and they may have some records of such dwellings.  Also, I
am aware that some of the Lancashire Constabulary police houses were
Parkinson frame - but I don't know if they still have any stock as my
memory of these is from over thirty years' ago.

Regards.
