Non-metric prices

The request was successful.

Dear Covent Garden Market Authority,

Covent Garden Market Authority appears to use non-metric prices. See:
*************************
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/sy...

General Service Charge: £ per sq ft
As a result of rising costs in 2013/14 the GSC was £12.42 compared with £11.68 for
the previous year.
*************************

Please can Covent Garden Market Authority adopt the metric system as the primary units for prices? Non-metric prices can still be used as secondary if required. It is government policy to make the nation accessible to people who use the metric system. When supermarkets provide a price per unit of measure, councils apply laws on pricing to require them to use metric as primary.

Yours faithfully,
David Johnson

Dear Covent Garden Market Authority,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Covent Garden Market Authority's handling of my FOI request 'Non-metric prices'.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Covent Garden Market Authority should have responded by now.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/n...

Yours faithfully,

David Johnson

Mr Johnson

I refer to your Freedom of Information request below relating to reference
to the General Service Charge (GSC)to tenants in our Annual Report and to
your subsequent email of yesterday.

I apologise for the delay in dealing with your request.

We currently express the GSC on the basis of £ per square foot because the
leases of our tenants, most of which have been in place for many years,
express the GSC on that basis.

However, we are about to embark on a major redevelopment of the market and
as a result all of our tenants will be receiving revised leases. Those
leases will express all measurements in both metric and imperial.

This will enable us to quote all our pricing in metric.
