Non-Conveyance or Transport
Dear North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust,
Would you be able to kindly share any policies, procedures or frameworks that enable your clinicians to discharge patients on-scene, refer on to other healthcare services, or signpost patients to self-care pathways, or elicit non-transport/conveyance outcomes?
Yours faithfully,
Matt Firestone

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) is entitled to withhold the
requested information about 999 call handling under section 38 of FOIA,
which concerns health and safety.
The trust does not consider that it would be in the public or the wider
NHS’s interests for patients and members of the general public to
potentially be aware of the highly complex, technical algorithms
associated with the description and answers the public provide when
calling 999 for life threatening emergency health conditions and incidents
and/or their associated ambulance service responses and the decision
making when treating a patient.
Should you wish to appeal this decision, you may do so by emailing
[1][email address] stating the reference number FOI3684.

Dear North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust's handling of my FOI request 'Non-Conveyance or Transport'.
The details requested to be shared do not relate to the systems used within 999 call-handling, 111 calls or clinical-call back for patients.
This request relates to policies, guidance or frameworks that are used by your frontline ambulance staff to support them to safely discharge patients on-scene. For example, this could include a standard operating procedure supporting the use of the Paramedic Pathfinder or Manchester Triage System tools, JRCALC, or a procedure which outlines best practice with providing advice to patients in a face-to-face assessment. Other ambulance services have already provided similar information, and I wish to be able to research on what Trusts use, to be able to suggest a national model.
I feel that this information does not hinder the Trust’s health and safety and in fact would benefit the wider healthcare system if such research can be published.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/n...
Yours faithfully,
Matt Firestone
Dear Mr Freestones
