'No confidence' communication to government

M Bimmler made this Freedom of Information request to University of Oxford

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear University of Oxford,

as you will be aware, on 7 June Congregation passed the following motion:

"Congregation instructs Council to communicate to Government that the University of Oxford has no confidence in the policies of the Minister for Higher Education."

Under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request access to any communication sent to the government or an individual minister or government department in accordance with this motion.

I am aware that this communication may not have yet been written or sent at the time of this request. I am also aware that, if this is the case, you could technically respond by stating that you did not hold such records at the time of this request. However, I believe that this would clearly not be in the spirit of the Act.

Moreover, under your Section 16 advice and assistance duties, I ask that (if you are not yet able to provide the record requested) you inform me at the time it has been written and sent so that I can submit a new Freedom of Information request at that time, if necessary.

Yours faithfully,

Michael Bimmler

Dear Mr Bimmler,

Yes, I am afraid your request is premature, since we do not yet hold this information.

I suggest you submit a fresh request at the end of this month, when we should be in a position to respond.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Todd,

many thanks for your response. I shall make a note to follow this up at the end of the month, but if of course the letter is prepared and sent earlier than that, I would very much appreciate being informed.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Bimmler

Dear University of Oxford,

as the end of the month is approaching, I wanted to enquire whether the letter had now been sent and if so, I would like to formally request it under FOIA provisions, as before.

Yours faithfully,

M Bimmler
