Nipple/areola tattooing costs to the NHS
Dear United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust,
I wish to ask some questions under the auspices of the F0I Act 200.
I read in the QVH 2017-2018 Quality Review that:
"Nurse led provision of local anaesthetic for nipple tattooing.
Following patient feedback, and to improve patient experience, our breast care nurses have undergone training enabling them to give local anaesthetic to patients at the time of nipple tattooing."
Can I please ask
1. How much time is spent training a nurse/medical professional in order to perform this type of procedure?
2. What is the cost per patient the NHS budgets for such treatment?
3. Does the NHS refer to other businesses/ services for this service or purely rely on nursing/medical staff?
4. What type of pigment /ink is used during the procedure. Has it been proven safe (long term) for patients?
5. Is there a fee to pay by patients should the procedure/treatment fade and require multiple follow up treatments.
Thank you for your time.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs K Slocombe
