NI Policies
Dear Executive Office (Northern Ireland),
Thank you for returning to your seats.
Pursuant to the FOI Act 2000, I would kindly request the following information:
1) NI's current Policy on Implementing a GDF in Northern Ireland (following on from the 2014 White Paper p10).
2) List of Counties in NI where nuclear waste has already been buried in NI and years of activities for each County
3) Which organisation(s) in NI (or elsewhere) has been/will be responsible for the safe mitigation of the environmental impacts of any activities listed in 1) and for the future in no.2).
4) When (approximately what year) will the next public consultation take place for a potential GDF in NI?
5) What Ports have had/will have the responsibility for accepting nuclear waste into NI?
6) Which Ports in NI have been the subject of a potential site for any activities related to Trident development?
Thanking you for your attention with these matters of "national interest" ie in the interest of public safety and within international humanitarian law as referred to in the Tshwane Principle 10: "Categories of Information with a High Presumption or Overriding Interest in Favor of Disclosure".
Yours faithfully,
Christine Gibson
Good Morning Christine
Many thanks for your information request below. After consultation with colleagues within the Department I can confirm that the Executive Office would not be responsible for the matters mentioned in your request. I would however suggest that you should redirect your request to the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) as they may hold information on the subject. I have provided the DAERA FOI inbox below for convenience.
DAERA [email address].
I hope this has been helpful.

Dear Executive Office (Northern Ireland),
Thank you for your very prompt response and for signposting me to DAERA; advice I will endeavour to action with expediency.
However, notwithstanding their due response, I am also requesting an internal review of the NIEO's handling of this request where I believe that the information requested is indeed held, in some or full part by the NIEO and where it is a regulatory requirement to impart this information under the FOI statute obligations.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/n...
I look forward to hearing from you in due course on the progress and outcome of this internal review request.
Yours faithfully,
Christine Gibson
Good afternoon Christine
At present there would be no reason for the Department to carry out an Internal Review as no official FOI response has been provided. The email earlier was advice and assistance under the provisions of the FOI Act and I am currently working to find an appropriate business area within the Department who will take your request forward to provide a full FOI response.
The business area will be in contact in due course to officially acknowledge.
Many thanks
