FOITEAMCRMMAILBOX (NHS ENGLAND & NHS IMPROVEMENT - X24),

Dear Derek Reid,

Thank you for your correspondence dated 25 January 2022.

Your correspondence read:

“Please provide the following information in relation to NHSX.

NHS England is not, at this stage, able to proceed with your enquiry under
the (FOI) Act, as your request is unclear.

It may help if we first explain that the FOI Act gives you the right to
ask any public sector organisation for the recorded information they have
on any subject. You can ask for any information you think a public
authority may hold. The right only covers recorded information which
includes information held on computers, in emails and in printed or
handwritten documents.

Your request can be in the form of a question, rather than a request for
specific documents, but the authority does not have to answer your
question if this would mean creating new information or giving an opinion
or judgment that is not already recorded.

We would be grateful if you could clarify the specific recorded
information/documents you are requesting. At present, we are largely
unable to identify what recorded information within NHSX is being
requested – specifically in those cases where a general question is being
asked, rather than identifying information for release.

As set out at Section 1(3) of the FOI Act, when further information is
required to identify and locate the information requested, and the
applicant has been informed, no further action is required until the
additional information has been received.

Please send your clarified request to [1][email address].

Once received, NHS England will write to acknowledge receipt of your
request and to provide you with a reference number. Please note that the
20-working day timeframe for complying with an FOI request does not
commence until the above information is provided.

Please do not reply to this email. This message has been sent from a
central mailbox. To communicate with NHS England regarding Freedom of
