Dear Department of Health and Social Care,

Thanks for your response.

Background:
The Annual Fraud Indicator 2017 whose figures you state you do not recognise was produced by the Fraud Costs Measurement Committee and involved Crowe Clark Whitehill, Experian and the Centre for Counter Fraud Studies, University of Portsmouth.

The Annual Fraud Indicator started being produced by authorised third parties when the Government dispanded the National Fraud Authority in March 2014.

Our request:
Our request dated 13th February asked you to supply your targets for reducing NHS fraud from 2010 onwards. We note you kindly supplied what appear to be your most recent targets, but we asked for targets from 2010 onwards. Please kindly supply them or state clearly if you do not hold them, as the Freedom of Information Act requires.

Yours faithfully,

Gemma Partridge

Thanks for your reply.

We would like the data we originally requested on 13th February by way of an internal review. Further information below.

Background:
The reference figures we provided were from the Annual Fraud Indicator 2017, produced by the UK Fraud Costs Measurement Committee (UKFCMC). The AFI has been produced by government-approved parties since they dispanded the National Fraud Authority in March 2014. The Annual Fraud Indicator 2017 is referenced in various government-hosted web pages on the .gov.uk domain. Our request did not ask whether your department recognised the figures.
