Dear Angela Pollock

Thank you for your request for information.

Please find information provided by the relevant service team(s) below.

"In light of Covid-19 the Government have relaxed the rules with regards to advertisement. Where possible we would still advertise in the newspaper, but where the newspaper had ceased publication during the height of lockdown, we were given permission to look at alternative ways of advertising such as the Internet and letter drops.

Since the easing of lockdown, most newspapers are now publishing and that included the Lichfield Mercury up until a few weeks ago when I received the sad news from our advertising agency Penna that the Lichfield Mercury had ceased publishing.

I have spoken with Penna this morning. The Lichfield Mercury had a distribution of 11,832. Since the Lichfield Mercury ceased publishing, we have been using the Express and Star which has the next best distribution rate of 141. I appreciate that is a significant reduction but it is in actual fact the next best one. There are multiple other publications available but with a tiny distribution rate. They are as follows:

Tamworth Herald 37
Sutton Coldfield Observer 91
Sunday Mercury Birmingham 91
Burton Mail 14
Blackcountry Bugle 18
Birmingham Post 15
Birmingham Mail 17

So whilst far from ideal, the West Midlands Express and Star remains the next best publication to use for the Lichfield area at this time."

Dear Angela Pollock

I have located the publicly available webpage - https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Your-co... However, it would appear that only current notices are published and then removed from publication following expiry of the relevant publication period.

I will therefore go back to the service to try to obtain copies of notices and hope to be able to get back to you soon.

Dear Angela Pollock

I have been asked for clarification about the subject of the notice(s) you are interested in e.g. road closure - Name of the road and approximate date of closure/publication to enable the service to check their records and provide you with relevant information.

Dear Angela Pollock

I have liaised with the service team(s) responsible for publication of public notices. They have advised that as per our original response, notices that would have been placed in the Lichfield Mercury will have been published in the West Midlands edition of the Express and Star.

Public notices are available on the Express and Star's website - https://www.yourpublicnotices.co.uk/expr... The website has a keyword search function. By searching for 'Staffordshire' you should be provided with Public Notices published on behalf of Staffordshire County Council. Clicking on a notice in the search results displays the notice.

Alternatively, copies of newspapers may be available for consultation in local libraries.

As this information is available to you in the public domain it is exempt from release under s.21 of the Freedom of Information Act.

I hope that this answers your questions about publication of public notices.
