Dear Mr Baikie

Freedom of Information Act 2000

I am writing to ask you to clarify your request. in relation to the Newham
Democracy and Civic Participation Commission.

The request needs to be further refined in order that we may complete and
recover the relevant information you require within the appropriate limit
set out by Section 12 of the FOI Act.

Please provide the following refinement to enable us to proceed.

- Timeframe - please give a specific time frame for correspondence.

- Subject Matter - please clearly define the subject matter of the
correspondence to which you request relates. Any and all correspondence
relating to the commission is not sufficiently precise to enable recovery
as the request must be specific and display a clear direction of the
content required rather than just a catch-all of all correspondence.

- Parties - please consider refining the scope - particularly of emails in
relation to the Commission sent and received by any/all officers of the
Council. This is too broad to enable recovery within the refines of the
Act.

I will not be able to take this matter further without this extra
information from you. Please let me know by 21/09/2021.

If I do not hear from you within the time frame provided, I shall take it
that you do not wish to pursue this request and will consider the request
closed.
Kind regards

Dear Mr Baikie

Freedom of Information Act 2000

Thank you for your email.

Our earlier email was not an interim response, it was a request for
clarification to enable us to undertake a search for the information you
have requested.

In order that we may complete and recover the relevant information we
request, again, for you to provide the following refinement to enable us
to proceed.

- Parties - please consider refining the scope - particularly of emails in
relation to the Commission sent and received by any/all officers of the
Council. This is too broad to enable recovery within the refines of the
Act.

In further response to your email below, please advise what you mean by
"conditionalities" and what this is in reference to?

I will not be able to take this matter further without this extra
information from you. Please let me know by 21/09/2021.

If I do not hear from you within the time frame provided, I shall take it
that you do not wish to pursue this request and will consider the request
closed.

Yours sincerely,

Dear London Borough of Newham,

Thank you for your reply today seeking clarification of my request.

1) The emails that I am requesting are any directly or indirectly advocating in favour, to the Commission as a whole , the Commission Chair, or Officers supporting the administration of the Commission, of the Directly Elected Mayor model of Governance

2) The time frame I am suggesting is from the first meeting of the Commission up to and including the date of publication of its final report.

When I referred to "conditionalites" I was simply referring to your request to me narrow the span of my Request, nothing more than that. I hope that I have now, as per above, suitably narrowed it , but if I can help further then please do let me know.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Baikie
