Dear Ada
Reference: IDA 279191
I am writing in regard to your Freedom of Information request, received by
BGS on 23^rd February 2021, for all correspondence and documents relating
to operations at the Horse Hill site exchanged between the Oil and Gas
Authority (OGA) and the BGS during two weeks preceding the OGA workshop
about the Newdigate earthquakes. Because your request concerns
environmental information we are considering it under the terms of the
Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).
I can confirm that BGS holds information within the scope of your request
however under section 7 of the Environmental Information Regulations a
public authority may extend the period of 20 working days to 40 working
days if it reasonably believes that the complexity and volume of the
information requested means that it is impracticable to comply with the
request within the earlier period. In this case we believe that some of
the information may be exempt under the provisions of the EIR and we have
to consider the application of Section 12(5)(e) The confidentiality of
commercial information to parts of the information that fall within the
scope of the request.
As this is the case BGS will endeavour to provide a response to you as
soon as possible and no later than 22^nd April.
Further information from the Information Commissioners' Office on the EIR
exemptions can be found on the below link:
