New Unique Identifier on PArents View website

Feargal Hogan made this Freedom of Information request to Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Office for Standards in Education,

On the recently launched Parents View website, the URL system that has been used has introduced a new unique identifier for each school's pages.

For instance The London Oratory School has a DfE URN of 137157 but seems have a new Parent View Unique Identifier of 24155

http://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/parent-v...

Can you please supply a simple 2 column list (excel or similar format) of the standard DfE URN numbers used on all other educational websites and databases matched against these new Parent View Unique Identifier.

Many thanks

Yours faithfully,

Feargal Hogan

Jeremy Honeywill, Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills

Dear Mr Hogan

Thank you for your email of 21 October 2011 in which you requested the
standard school URN numbers matched against the identifier numbers used in
the URLs on Ofsted’s new Parent View website.

I have liaised with colleagues in our New Media team, responsible for
internet content, and I have been informed that as part of our next
release on Parent View we will be changing the URLs for results pages so
that they default to using the school’s standard URN instead. As such, the
new Parent View results URL for a provider with URN 135432, for example,
would become
[1]http://www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/pare....

We are expecting this update to the Parent View site to be released next
week. I would be very grateful if you could confirm whether this would
satisfy your request or whether you still require the requested list.

Kind regards

Dear Jeremy Honeywill,

I'd suggest we wait until the actual release. If it doesn't materialise, I would still like the data. Lets give it a couple of weeks before you close it.

Yours sincerely,

Feargal Hogan

You were right to hold out for the new release. Mid-February and the new unique identifier is still being used.

Any news?
