New traffic monitoring / pollution sensors around Oxford, 2023

The request was successful.

Richard Parnham

Dear Oxfordshire County Council,

Recently, traffic monitoring equipment has starting appearing in odd locations around Oxford, including dead end roads around Garsington Road and on side road junctions (such a Divinity road), where traffic is likely to pass over the sensors at slow speeds.

There is also at least one unaccounted for pollution monitoring sensors - notably one towards the bottom of Headington Hill, near the entrance to Headington Hill Park car park (not under the footbridge - that one's accounted for).

I am curious about what these sensors are measuring, and in support of which policies. Please therefore provide me with:

a) any installation schedules / times of operations of traffic monitoring exercises conducted by Oxford City Council since the start of 2023 within Oxford city - APRN / pressure sensor or otherwise. I am particularly interested the location, timing and duration installed of sensors used to evaluate current / planned LTNs or traffic filters.

b) the same in relation to any new pollution monitoring stations around Oxford city installed in 2023 - especially any new monitoring stations that not feature in the city council's 2022 pollution monitoring report. I want to know when these stations were installed, where, and for how long they will be in operation - especially if they will be used to help evaluate current/ future LTN or traffic filter locations.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Parnham
