New Signs to replace the abolished "Cumbria"
Dear Cumberland Council,
Can you confirm that the new authority has replaced all "Cumbria" signs on all and every inbound road approach to Cumberland?
Of course with "Cumbria" having no legitimacy to be on road signage and infrastructure since it's permanent abolition one would expect this to have occurred by now.
If any "Cumbria" border signs do still remain :
1. Why?
2. Confirm that they are on a programme of being completely taken permanently
down and replaced with the legal and correct Cumberland.
Additionally can you confirm that no part of your budget whatsoever is being spent on promoting the abolished "Cumbria" and that Cumberland and only Cumberland without wishful pairing of the old "Cumbria"is being promoted.
Understandably the vast majority of local feeling is (and was always) proud of Cumberland and feelings are strong on this important and relevant issue.
Yours faithfully,
Robert Toone

Dear Information Governance,
Thank you for your response. I note that the vast majority of
my request remains unanswered.
Aside from the unanswered sections of my request (which is most
of my initial request) and for clarification, the border signage I referred to
I may have better specified as signage which is entirely within your
remit at (say) on the A69 main entering Cumberland from the east,
the border sign at Gretna, entering Cumberland rather
than anyting splitting you from Westmorland and Furness.
Also I think an emotional leaning response
from the person replying who seemingly wishes
that "Cumbria" was still alive is neither acceptable
to me and is not impartial.
Please answer the specific questions I raised
as they are of budgetary importance and also
seeing that preference to the abolished "Cumbria"
is not over-riding Cumberland.
Yours sincerely,
Robert Toone
