Department takes very seriously its obligations, including the requirement

that we have not been able to maintain this standard in this instance, and
while there may be considered to be mitigating circumstances, this delay

we have received the Freedom of Information request you submitted.
We will respond to you within 20 working days.
Dear Department for Education,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Education's handling of my FOI request 'New Schools Built post 2016'.
The original request was raised on 13th January 2023, 45 working days ago. On the 15th February your team acknowledged that this request was late, acknowledging that " this delay is not acceptable". I was also assured that "[my] request is currently being dealt with and [I] will receive a response shortly". Despite these assurances we are now a further 23 working days on and no update or answer has been received.
Can you please look into this and provide me with an update
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/n...

Dear Mr Noggin,
Thank you for your request for information, received by the Department for
Education (the department) on 16 January 2023. You requested:
I would like to understand what schools have been built l under direct
contracts from the Department for Education (DfE) that have handed over or
started on site since January 2016 and by whom.
Can you please provide an Excel schedule of:
i) Project Name / School

iii) Appointed Contractor
iv) Relevant DfE Framework (if applicable)
Ideally I would like to understand an indicative size of project (£m)
however if this is commercially sensitive then please ignore this request.
Firstly, I would like to again apologise for the delay in responding to
your request for information. We have received your request for an
internal review of the timeliness of this case, however following this
response we will not proceed with the internal review unless you contact
us to request one.
I have dealt with your request under the Environmental Information
Regulations 2004 (EIRs). The EIRs apply to requests for environmental
information, which is a broad category of information defined in
regulation 2 of the EIRs. Public authorities are required to handle
requests for environmental information under the EIRs. They give similar
access rights to the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The department holds information in scope of your request. Please find
attached contractual information for:
• Free school projects – these include schools approved in the
department’s central application rounds. We have interpreted your
request to include the main contract for the permanent build of each
school project. Some projects may have multiple contracts, for example
where temporary accommodation is necessary.
• PSBP – these include schools that have had buildings rebuilt or
significantly refurbished under the Priority Schools Building
Programme (PSBP). We have interpreted your request to include the main
contractor for each school project. Some projects may have multiple
contracts, for example where temporary accommodation is necessary.
• We have not included PSBP-funded projects that were delivered locally
by Responsible Bodies, as the department was not the client for these
projects.
• SRP – these include schools that will have buildings rebuilt or
significantly refurbished under the School Rebuilding Programme (SRP).
We have interpreted your request to include the main contractor for
each school project. Some projects may have multiple contracts, for
example where temporary accommodation is necessary.
• SSCIB – this project was delivered using funding from the Strategic
School Improvement Budget (SSICB) Programme.
