New rules for JSA claimants I

Margaret Nicol made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please explain what criteria will be used to assess why it is necessary for some claimants to attend the jobcentre weekly instead of fortnightly.

For example if you have consistently tried to gain employment, submitted countless applications, attended several interviews, and been on numerous jobcentre referral programmes, yet still cannot get a job, would someone still be viewed as not trying hard enough and in need of this extra support?

Yours faithfully,
Margaret Nicol

Dear DWP DWP PMU.Fol,

Your reply is vague and non specific. So: what is the guidance given to jobcentre staff that informs whether or not someone, in this case me, compulsorily has to attend weekly instead of fortnightly jobcentre appointments.
What is the extra support and why .
If you like I can send ALL my jobsearch activity records to DWP Secretary of State office
and ask the same question.

Yours sincerely,

Margaret Nicol
