New County Signs to replace 'Cumbria'

Robert Toone made this Freedom of Information request to Cumbria County Council This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Cumbria County Council did not have the information requested.

Dear Cumbria County Council,
With the impending abolition of Cumbria County Council, I wish to know are you taking down the defunct
road signs showing 'Cumbria' on all approaches inwards to to what is currently 'Cumbria' as new unitary authorities Cumberland and Westmorland & Furness are coming into force?
I understand that all other abolished authorities such as 'Cleveland' and 'Humberside' and others did so and then had new signage placed showing the new Counties.

On a personal note it would be much preferential to see just CUMBERLAND on road signage and likewise WESTMORLAND & FURNESS which reflect reality, not an administrative area (Cumbria) which hasn't even made it to 50 years of existence.

Yours faithfully,
Mr Robert Toone
