New Councils Demographic Information
Dear Northumberland County Council,
The new Conservative administration at County Hall has decided to form five Councils to operate budgets and make planning decisions across newly defined areas split approximately on population grounds, North Northumberland, Ashington and Blyth, Tynedale, Castle Morpeth, and Cramlington and Bedlington.
Decision making will differ in each area due to the basic differences both geographically and demographically across such a vast council holding, therefore can I have a split of information across the new areas that may clarify why some areas make different decisions to others using mid year 2016/17 information as collected by the County Council and Health, not 2011 census data.
Numbers of homes by taxable class in each Council A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H
Number of homes per Sq Km by ward in each Council Area and Average by Council
Types of home in each Council Area by ward and Council e.g. Social/Council/Housing Association, private rented, privately owned.
Types of Home by Class in each Council Area by ward and Council e.g. Bungalow by bedroom number, houses by bedroom number, flats by bedroom number.
Population by age group for each Council 0-5, 6-15, 16-65, Over 65
Number of schools in each Council Area by name and definition, e.g. Primary, First etc.,
Number surplus places in each school
Average household income by Ward in each Council Area and Average by Council.
Average lifespan by Ward in each Council area and Average by Council split into sexes.
Yours faithfully,
Brain Heslop

Dear Enquirer,
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST
I refer to your Freedom of Information request in relation to housing,
population by age group, schools, lifespan.
Right of Access
Section 1(1) of the Act provides any person making a request for
information to a public authority is entitled.
(a) to be informed in writing by the public authority whether it holds
information of the description specified in the request (which Section
1(6) of the Act designates as the "duty to confirm or deny"), and
(b) if that is the case, to have that information communicated to him.
The right is to obtain access to the information itself and not to the
document or record which contains it.
The Act creates a general right of access to information held by public
authorities subject to various exemptions.
Northumberland County Council confirms that it holds the information you
have requested, please see the attached and following information in
response.
The new Conservative administration at County Hall has decided to form
five Councils to operate budgets and make planning decisions across newly
defined areas split approximately on population grounds, North
Northumberland, Ashington and Blyth, Tynedale, Castle Morpeth, and
Cramlington and Bedlington.
Decision making will differ in each area due to the basic differences both
geographically and demographically across such a vast council holding,
therefore can I have a split of information across the new areas that may
clarify why some areas make different decisions to others using mid year
2016/17 information as collected by the County Council and Health, not
2011 census data.
1. Numbers of homes by taxable class in each Council A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H
Please see the attached spreadsheet
2. Number of homes per Sq Km by ward in each Council Area and Average
by Council
Please see the attached spreadsheet
3. Types of home in each Council Area by ward and Council e.g.
Social/Council/Housing Association, private rented, privately owned.
The Council does not hold the information that has been requested; this
would normally be sourced via the Census 2011 data however the requestor
does not require that information.
The Council does hold information regarding the locations of
council-retained stock however does not hold the information for social
landlords in each area / ward therefore cannot provide the information
requested.
In addition data is not held that would provide a distinction between the
number of properties that are owned and occupied by the homeowner
(privately owned) and those that are part of the private rented sector
therefore this information cannot be provided.
We are therefore unable to provide a response to this question.
4. Types of Home by Class in each Council Area by ward and Council
e.g. Bungalow by bedroom number, houses by bedroom number, flats by
bedroom number.
Please see the attached spreadsheet
5. Population by age group for each Council 0-5, 6-15, 16-65, Over 65
Please see the attached spreadsheet
6. Number of schools in each Council Area by name and definition,
e.g. Primary, First etc.,
Please see the attached spreadsheet
7. Number surplus places in each school
Please see the attached spreadsheet
8. Average household income by Ward in each Council Area and Average
by Council.
Please see the attached spreadsheet
9. Average lifespan by Ward in each Council area and Average by
Council split into sexes
