Dear Department of Health (Northern Ireland),
This request relates to the Neonatal Units within Northern Ireland.
Can you confirm which hospitals within NI have had neonatal Units over the last 5 years?
Can you provide the neonatal cot complement – broken down by Level1, Level2 and Level3 – at these Units at present?
Can you confirm if the neonatal cot complement has changed at all in these neonatal Units since 1st April 2016?
Can you confirm the number of admissions to the neonatal Units for the following time periods:
- for year 1st April 2016 to 31st March 2017
- for year 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018
- for year 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2019
- for year 1st April 2019 to present day?
Can you confirm the number of transfers from these neonatal units to other neonatal units (including transfers within Trusts and also to units outside of admitting Trust)?
Can you confirm if there are circumstances other than clinical need under which transfers between neonatal units are carried out?
Can you provide a snapshot of cot usage in these neonatal Units as of now?
Can you confirm if there is any review ongoing at present with regard to neonatal units (this can be Transformation Programme based, regionally based or within the individual Trusts themselves)?
Please see attached response to your request below and apologises for only
getting back to you now.
DoH Information Management Branch
Dear Burns, Jeff,
Thank you for your response.
I will contact HSCB with regard to questions 1-6.
Can I ask you though to consider Q7 in regard to any regional reviews or transformation related work that might be going on that would or could affect neo-natal services regionally?
Dear Burns, Jeff,
Can I ask you to refer to my contact of 28th September last in order to ensure that DoH-relevant aspects are responded to promptly.
Just a quick note to acknowledge that I have received your email below and someone will hopefully get back to you soon.
