NeoFace biometric facial recognition trial

The request was successful.

Dear Lancashire Constabulary,

Under the Freedom of Information Act please could you supply the following information within 20 working days:

As per your answer on 28th April 2015 to a Freedom on Information request:

“Lancashire Constabulary are currently running an internal trial of the NeoFace system which is being sponsored by ACC Bates. The trial is very much in the early stages and at present Lancashire has no plans for either purchase of the system nor an operational roll out. If the force were to procure such a system then it would go through the full procurement exercise, PIA etc.”

1) Please advise if Lancashire Constabulary purchased the NeoFace system and whether it is operational.

2) If it is operational, please could you advise the date it went operational and confirm the facial databases it is run in conjunction with.

3) Please advise if there are any plans to use NEC NeoFace Watch as Leicestershire Police did at the Download Music Festival last June 2015, see http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/07/13/...

Some parts of this request may be easier to answer than others and in such case please could you release available data as soon as possible rather than delay the entire request.

If you are not fully certain of what it is I am asking then I look forward to contact from you as soon as possible to clarify what it is I am requesting in order to meet your obligations under the law.

If the costs of processing this request exceed the limit in the Act, please advise on what information you are able to supply within the cost limit.

Yours faithfully,

Pippa King
