Naval Ships of New Zealand

The request was successful.

Dear Ministry of Defence,
During Operation Grapple in 1957/58 there were two ships of the New Zealand Navy patrolling the waters around Christmas Island. The HMNZS Pukaki and the HMNZS Rotoiti.

Could you please supply me with copies of the official records showing the level of radiation these ships, and their Crews, are alleged to have received during their tour of duty?

Yours faithfully,

Dave Whyte

Many thanks Clive.

It appears the only copy of the book in the UK is held at the British Library in London.

It is the answer given by the Ministry of Defence that I am interested in:

Will they actually quote radiation levels that have been grossly under-estimated?

Will they tell me that this information is in the National Archives (under ES1/602) and they are not required to answer?

Will I be told that this is a radiation level question so it is therefore deemed a 'Vexatious'request(by me) and they refuse to answer?

Perhaps their 'Meticulous recording of all detail' (which we are regularly told about) has let them down again and I will be informed they do not have the information requested and do not know anyone who has this information.

Maybe I will be informed that this comes under s24 (National Security)and they are unable to supply me with the details. (In 1998 at the ECHR the UK told the presiding Judge there was no requirement to withold any radiation levels under the grounds of National Security).

One thing I do know: They will not give me an honest answer on radiation levels!

All the best

Dave

Clive, Many thanks for the very kind offer, but I would be unable to use the evidence now, but the offer was very much appreciated.
There is a case meeting on the 8th July and all my evidence has now been submitted. In fact, I have an additional 115 pages of evidence that the SPVA are refusing to enter into my court bundle on the grounds I have sent in 'Too much' evidence.

I await the Judges direction on this matter on the 8th

Best wishes
Dave
