Dear Shuo Yang,
Your request was received on 25 September 2024 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’).
You asked:
I would like to request detailed information on the number of Chinese undergraduate
applications and admissions for the Natural Science Undergraduate Course (BCF0) in each of
the colleges of the University of Cambridge from 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Specifically, I would like to request the following information:
1. The number of Chinese students applying for BCF0 in each college in the past five years
2. The number of Chinese students who applied for BCF0 admission in each college in the past
five years
3. The NSAA scores obtained by students are grouped according to the institutions they applied
for.
4. The data according to the Apply Year, Domicile,
College, Applications, Offers
The requested information is attached. Some suppression has been applied to prevent the risk of any
individual being identified. In presenting the information in this way, the University is engaging the
exemption at section 40(3A)(a) of the Act because the release of the raw data would breach the first
data protection principle (the fair, lawful and transparent processing of personal data) as set out in the
UK General Data Protection Regulation. This part of section 40 confers absolute exemption under the
Act.
