Information Commissioner's Office

26 February 2018

Case Reference Number IRQ0723180

Dear Mr Stark,

We are now in a position to provide you with a response to your request
for information to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Which was
passed to the ICO's Information Access Team for handling.

We have dealt with your request in accordance with your ‘right to know’
under section 1(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), which
entitles you to be provided with any information ‘held’ by a public
authority, unless an appropriate exemption applies.

Request

On 29 January 2018 you requested the following information:

“Please provide all details of your partnership with the company National
Online Safety Ltd. Their website shows your logo and states that you work
in partnership. I would like to see:- - copies of any correspondence you
have had with NOS. - any statements or documents around the nature of your
partnership - details of any payments that have passed between NOS and the
ICO - any contracts or terms that you may have with company.”

Response

In response, we are able to confirm that we hold limited information
within the scope of your request.

As part of the request handling process we reviewed the National Online
Safety Ltd (NOS) website, including the ‘our partnerships’ page. We cannot
locate where the ICO logo is displayed or where it states that we have a
partnership with NOS. We searched our electronic casework and records
management systems for any information exchanged or relating to a
partnership with NOS. We are able to confirm that we hold no recorded
information of that nature.

You may find it helpful to refer to our copyright and re-use webpage,
which contains information about the circumstances in which we would
consent to use of the ICO logo. As you may know use of any of our logos
without consent infringes the copyright held in respect of those logos.

In relation to payments, NOS has a valid data protection registration with
the ICO that commenced on 10 July 2017, for which they paid a tier 1
statutory registration fee of £35.00. You can view their registration on
the public register by looking for registration number ZA264926 here:

In relation to contracts or terms, we publish a list of our current
contracts online, you can check the information using the following link:

As some of the information you have requested is publically available on
our website it is technically exempt under section 21 of the FOIA because
it is considered to be reasonably accessible to you by other means.

If you have specific concerns about NOS’s information rights practices,
please contact the ICO helpline on 0303 123 1113 for further advice and
assistance.

That concludes our response to your information request, we hope that it
proves helpful.

request or review has been dealt with correctly, you have a further right
of appeal to this office in our capacity as the statutory complaint
handler under the legislation. To make such an application, please write
to our Customer Contact Team, at the address given or visit the
