Names on Koestler award pieces

Lee Andrews made this Freedom of Information request to HM Prison & Probation Service Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was successful.

Dear HM Prison & Probation Service,
The prison newspaper Inside Time reported that HMPPS has told Koestler Arts that it no longer wants the names of creators included in the annual show. In future, only the prison will be named.

Please provide any correspondence, memoranda or other documents that include the reasoning behind this decision.

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Lee Andrews

Dear HMPPS.Correspondence,

Thank you for your response. The following quote was included in an article Inside Time:

An HMPPS spokesperson told Inside Time that whilst it recognises the importance of art in prisons, “all displayed artwork is anonymised to protect victims”.

https://insidetime.org/newsround/put-our...

I do not know which part of HMPPS provided the quote or made the policy decision. I do not believe the Act obliges me to provide that information in order to proceed with the request. Therefore I do not consider that this is a clarification request and request that this response is internally reviewed.

Yours sincerely,

Lee Andrews
