Dear Colchester Borough Council,

Can you please advise details (Titles, Dates, Voters names and Party, and how they voted) for all votes taken in Colchester full Council and preferably all other groups and committees where councillors sit. I am especially interested in the Local Plan Committee and Planing Committee.

I would like to know by date and title of vote for the last two years (at least) , who has voted for and against by name and party. In the instance where councillors change party I'm happy to simply use their current party.

Apologies if my phrasing isn't 100% correct, but I'm looking for something similar to the
"They work work for you website" but for Colchester Council and not Westminster.

I am especially concerned about the Local Plan as I have been told that councillors are allegedly saying they are voting against certain matters when it seems they have actually voted for it.

Transparency in this area isn't easy to come by I've looked and I'd like to know who is voting for what and when.

These votes have a direct impact on peoples lives and we have a right to know how our representatives vote.

Yours faithfully,

Thomas Rowe

Dear Mr Rowe

I am now able to respond to your Freedom of Information request logged on 15th November under reference 346557.

Voting procedures are set down in Paragraph 9 of the Colchester Borough Council Meeting Procedure Rules published at http://www.colchester.gov.uk/constitution . Votes are ordinarily determined by a show of hands. The Rules state that: 'On the requisition of any Councillor supported by two other Councillors, the voting on any question shall be recorded. The record shall show how each Councillor present and voting, voted and also the names of any Councillors present but not voting. The demand for the vote to be recorded must be made before the vote is taken. A vote so recorded shall be called a "named vote".'

The information you have requested will therefore only be held in respect of named votes as defined above, in which case the details will be published in the minutes of the meeting.

Minutes of all meetings are published with their agendas and other meeting documents and recordings at https://colchester.cmis.uk.com/colcheste... .

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this request please contact me again quoting the reference given above.

Yours sincerely
