Dear Ann Butcher,

Please could you forward this Internal Review to:

Attention: Michael Cross, Director
Corporate Support and Interim College Secretary.

With reference to your response to my Freedom of Information request:
FOISA Request 07 22-23 - MyViewBoard Sens Classroom Analysis Tool
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/m...

I am requesting an Internal Review of your response to the above Freedom of Information request.

In your response you stated that “MyViewBoard Sens has not been deployed with any classroom at any time.”

My questions did not specifically apply to use in ‘classrooms’ just to the use in general of the MyViewBoard Sens which appears up to 14 times in the below video, visually indicating that the technology has been in Glasgow City College, with a clear example of its use being at 1 minute 20 seconds showing the mood indexing and engagement of unknown persons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0TKXtMx...

Perhaps you could clarify why the Sens technology appears so prolifically in the video and explain Mark Frost presence, from Intel’s Internet of Things group, at the college - ViewSonic's Sens uses Intel's 'OpenVINO toolkit'. https://www.intel.com/content/dam/develo... )

In addition to this review, and you may consider this as an additional Freedom of Information Request or include in the answering of this Internal Review Request, please could you supply any communications between the College with Intel and ViewSonic’s representatives containing the decisions to use or not use the Sens technology. This would help evidence the anomalies of the Sens technology appearing in the above video so frequently when it has not, as your response indicates, been ‘deployed’.

I appreciate educational establishments are busy, I am grateful for your time on this and look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,

Pippa King

Dear Drew McGowan,

Thank you for your response, again stating that the Sens technology has not been used by the college other than in a ‘closed session’. Forgive me as I did not fully understand your response as my request was “please could you supply any communications between the College with Intel and ViewSonic’s representatives containing the decisions to use or not use the Sens technology. This would help evidence the anomalies of the Sens technology appearing in the above video so frequently when it has not, as your response indicates, been ‘deployed’.” I was not requesting communications to Sens being ‘deployed’ but all communications regarding this technology. If you are not fully certain of what it is I am asking then I look forward to contact from you as soon as possible to clarify what it is I am requesting in order to meet your obligations under the law.

I understand that some parts of your response may be redacted but it would certainly help if the college was transparent with as much information as possible and therefore provide either respond to this request or therefore conduct an Internal Review of your response to my request Ref No: 12/22-23

I appreciate your time on this.

Dear Drew McGowan,

Thank you for your response, again stating that the Sens technology has
not been used by the college other than in a ‘closed session’.  Forgive me
as I did not fully understand your response as my request was “please
could you supply any communications between the College with Intel and
ViewSonic’s representatives containing the decisions to use or not use the
Sens technology.  This would help evidence the anomalies of the Sens
technology appearing in the above video so frequently when it has not, as
your response indicates, been ‘deployed’.”  I was not requesting
communications to Sens being ‘deployed’ but all communications regarding
this technology.  If you are not fully certain of what it is I am asking
then I look forward to contact from you as soon as possible to clarify
what it is I am requesting in order to meet your obligations under the
law.

I understand that some parts of your response may be redacted but it would
certainly help if the college was transparent with as much information as
possible and therefore provide either respond to this request or therefore
conduct an Internal Review of your response to my request Ref No: 12/22-23

I appreciate your time on this.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Ms King
Request for Review
Ref No:  FOISA REVIEW 16 22-23

Thank you for your email received on 22 November 2022 requesting a review
of the response to FOISA 12 22-23. Please find a response from City of
Glasgow College below.

On 24 October 2022, you submitted a Freedom of Information request seeking
"any communications between the College with Intel and ViewSonic’s
representatives containing the decisions to use or not use the Sens
technology." The College responded to your request on 17 November 2022,
confirming:

"City of Glasgow College has not engaged Intel/ViewSonic with the
intention of procuring myViewBoard Sens to date. The myViewBoard Sens was
demonstrated to a number of staff when the College was commissioning our
Visual Learning Lab. The College therefore does not hold the information
that you have requested."

After receiving the above response from the College, you requested an
internal review on 22 November 2022. In your email, you stated that you
did not fully understand the response and said that you were "not
requesting communications to Sens being ‘deployed’ but all communications
regarding this technology."

To clarify, there has been no communication between the College and
Intel/ViewSonic regarding the myViewBoard Sens technology. As previously
stated, the College has not engaged Intel/ViewSonic in order to procure or
deploy this technology. The myViewBoard Sens was demonstrated to staff in
a closed session while the College was commissioning our Visual Learning
Lab. Therefore, the College cannot supply you with the information you
requested as it is not held.

Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 states that
public authorities must issue an applicant with a notice when they receive
requests for information that they do not hold.  In accordance with
Section 17, in our response on 17 November 2022, the College notified you
that we do not hold this information. I am therefore satisfied with the
College's handling of this request.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Scottish Information Commissioner for a
decision (www.itspublicknowledge.info/Appeal).

Yours sincerely
Drew McGowan
College Secretary
