MyCampus Problems Since 1st August 2012

The request was partially successful.

Dear University of Glasgow,

Could you please answer the following questions:

a. How many problems have been reported by users of MyCampus since 1st August 2012?

b. How many of these problems have been resolved?

c. What has been the cost of fixing these problems in terms of person-days?

d. Has David Newall, the convenor of MyCampus project board, accepted the responsibility for the malfunction of MyCampus for the second year running? Please supply the documented evidence including the relevant minutes of meetings of the Senior Management Group and the Principal Advisory Group.

e. Has any member of the MyCampus Team been reprimanded for the failure to deliver a working system for the second year running? I am not interested in knowing the name of the person, a “Yes” or “No” answer will suffice.

f. If no one has been reprimanded could you please tell me why?

Yours faithfully,

Ann Campbell

They say “The University does not consider that MyCampus has malfunctioned “ and “a working system was delivered”! So, the rumours that “Del Boy” has been recruited to deal with FoI requests are true after all.

Let me tell you a bit about this “working system”: It was unavailable for the first couple of weeks of August; it needed experts from the USA to be fixed; it still is up and down like a yoyo; it is as slow as a three legged donkey; it looks horrible; it doesn’t work; it changes the data for no apparent reason; it doesn’t provide any management information; it needs a large team of people (over 80) to look after it; it costs millions; it is hated by everyone and trusted by no one.

One bit of advice to users/sufferers of MyCampys:

If the system’s functionality, user interfaces and performance are not up to your expectations, please lower your expectations or, even better, expect disaster and rest assured you won’t be disappointed!
